Love (6 Sonnets)

Love
Published 10th November 23

Love comes in many forms,
It can be soft, delicate & pure,
An ultimate mutual bonding
That makes us feel secure,

Adoration for one another,
Devotion for those you admire,
Unconditional love is a wish,
Which we all should aspire,

Love is the most supreme emotion,
It's powerful, intense & strong,
It can make you the happiest person,
Knowing that you belong,

Being genuine with a partner,
Or close to a friend,
Family, relatives or not,
With love we shouldn't pretend,

Love can make you wonder,
A battle between heart & mind,
It can be so innocent,
But to deceit, it can make you blind,

It can cause extreme pain,
If not treated with care,
To be spiteful & indifferent,
Hurts beyond compare,

To the ones that have lost love in their life,
Try to be positive & have no hate.
Don’t be sad, I’ll show love to you,
No one deserves to be in that state.

Love 2
Published 13th February 24

Love is soft,
Love is slow,
Love can’t be rushed,
For it won’t grow,

Love is joy,
Love is pain,
Love is longing,
And where to remain,

Love is strange,
Love is blind,
Love are memories,
Of ones left behind,

Love means togetherness,
Love is sincere,
Love can be manipulated,
And cause us tears,

Love for eternity,
Love big or small,
Love yourself,
Before it all,

Love your family,
Love your friends,
Love the ones in your life,
You never know when it ends,

Love with all your heart,
Love from inside,
Love is freely given,
That we should never need to hide.

I Wear my Heart on my Sleeve
Published 15th February 24

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
To show openly how I feel,
It leaves me vulnerable,
However I can heal,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
And show my love on display,
Why hide what you are feeling,
We should all be this way,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
And admit it without shame,
It shows my true intentions,
One would hope others be the same,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
Something I would never change,
Live life like an open book,
With all emotions written on a page,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
I mean everything that I’ve said,
If I ever say ‘I love you’
Those words have meaning, not just to be fed,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
To show how true I can be,
We shouldn’t dilute our emotions,
Show the world your inner beauty,

I wear my heart on my sleeve,
I have so much love to share,
Can anyone match my soul,
And treat my heart with care.

Love Has a Lot to Answer For
Published 5th June 24

Love has a lot to answer for,
Your heart can rule your mind,
It can cause your tears to stream,
That hurts you from deep inside,

Memories of times that have gone,
Offering everything that was in us,
To be left with ourselves alone,
No reciprocation of love or trust,

There’s people that we thought,
That would forever stay by our side,
Other influences change their energy,
To lower our worth & cut down our pride,

I have come to the conclusion,
That alone I will remain,
No one else can accept the love I give,
But to myself I must proclaim,

The family that I have got left,
In my heart they’ll always be,
The ones who’ll never turn their back,
Are the ones that mean the most to me,

Having friends that know me well,
The one's who understand my past,
They're the spirit that keep me going,
Without them I wouldn't last,

Cherish your circle of like-minded souls,
Keep them close & don't let them go,
Love is to be caring & happy, not to cause pain,
Without it we would never grow.

The Burden and the Gift.
Published 14th August ‘25

My heart was made a size too wide,
A restless tide I cannot hide.
It opens doors both locked and barred,
And carries love when times are hard,

It gathers strangers in its keep,
It guards their secrets, holds them deep,
It gives away its brightest part,
And stitches wounds with threads of heart,

But weight like this can bend the spine,
When giving out becomes the line,
That blurs between my self and you,
I’m drained, yet still I see it through,

For every ache, there’s something more,
The joy of love worth fighting for,
The thrill of seeing someone stand,
Because I reached and held their hand,

Though some may take and never stay,
I keep on giving anyway,
For even if they walk apart,
They’ve walked a while inside my heart,

Sometimes I see my care can overflow,
But loving’s just the only way I know,
And wonder if it feels a touch too near,
My language written soft but always clear,

This size was something I was given,
A gift that’s heavy but still worth living,
So let it break, and let it mend,
It’s built to love, right to the end.

Love Should Heal.
Published 6th September '25

Love can be unkind,
The heart will blind the eyes,
It brings you low, it breaks you down,
And hides the truth in lies,

The past wouldn't set me free,
I gave till I was done,
But nothing came to meet my trust,
No love to match my own,

I thought some ties would last,
That some would never stray,
But other voices turned their heads,
And pulled their hearts away,

The truth is clear to me,
Alone is where I’ll stand,
The love I gave was cast aside,
It slipped through every hand,

My family still remains,
They’re rooted in my soul,
They’ll never leave, they’ll never turn,
Their love will make me whole,

My friends who know me best,
Who’ve seen the storms I’ve crossed,
They are the strength that keeps me here,
Without them I’d be lost,

So guard the ones who care,
The circle tried and true,
For love should heal and help us grow,
Not tear our hearts in two.
